VMware, Windows 7 and HP Protect Tools = Trouble

I have had a lot of trouble with VMware server or workstation running on a Windows 7 on HP machines. It seems to conflict with the HP Protect Tools software. It is possible to install VMware and run it once or so, but after a reboot it is not possible to login. You get to the ctrl-alt-del part and after pressing the keys nothing happens for  some minutes and you get back to the login screen with ctrl-alt-del. The only solution that I have found for this is to remove HP Protect Tools software completely.
