Recently I have discovered that we kept losing the “Send as permission” on an Exchange 2007 SP1 with rollup 7. The funny thing was that it was because the user was a member of a group which was a member of print operators. And I do not know why all of a sudden this should conflict but it did. If I removed the user from print operators and changed the users admincount to 0 the problem was solved.
Somebody in Redmond must have been in a good mood, starting on April 01. 2009 Microsoft will release Office Sharepoint Designer 2007 as a free downloadable product. Hmm… it is to early to be an April fool… Will keep you updated with a download link as soon as it becomes available.
There appears to be a bug in SBS 2008 with some installations that causes Exchange to prompt for a product key even though it should not. The funny part is that the first article in Help describes the fact that the product key is no longer entered during installation and you should rememeber to enter it. But where do we get this key??? So as long as you do not enter the key, Exchange will be in trial mode which means it will run for 90 days.
After talking with MS tech support they told me that the problem did not exist but unofficially a tool/update is on the way and should be released in the nearest future, probably in february.
Updated: you can download the tool from http://rahman.eu/ActivateExchange.exe
I have made a lot of clean installlations where this appearantly is not a problem so it must be something in the migration, but I cannot confirm this without further testing.
